As a carpenter I have blown through many pairs of shoes and boots. I like to wear a lighter weight shoe for most of the year, such as a trail runner. They usually last 6-7 months. Long enough to get me to winter, when I switch to boots. Which last 6-7 months..... I have had two pair of keens before, they were OK. I was reluctant to try these. The guy at the store told me about the utility line, now here I am 12 months later looking for a new pair! Light, waterproof, warm enough for mountains of Western NC winters, not too hot in summer. Every day for a year is a new record for me!! I will buy them again.

Keens are comfortable from the moment you put them on. No break-in needed. The one downside I notice on their products is that they tend to run a bit wide.

By Christopher Wright
I bought a pair of Keen sandals every year since they came out and loved the wide fit because of my wide feet. So I ordered a pair of these boots in my size, 10 and a half EE but they were too small. Sent them back and got the next size up and when they arrived wore them for 7 hours. The only good thing is its traction. The box said 11EE but these are not wide. They are not comfortable and I had to fiddle with the laces to make it through the day. And then the laces keep coming untied. What's with that? I have to tie extra knots to keep them tied up. And they are very noisy. I have had wooden shoes that were quieter than these so don't think you can sneak up on anything with these "clompers". And they are very expensive, especially since I had to pay to ship the first ones back.
